Lizz loves tie-dye! Anything and everything she wants, she has to check if there is a tie-die color option. That goes for hiking boots too. Well, I’d say she came pretty close!
We took one look at these, and we both knew we wanted them! The partnership with Unlikely Hikers and what they stood for made these shoes worth every penny to us! You should really check them out here.
We looked online and discovered that we could only buy this particular style online. After seeing the cost, we decided that we absolutely had to try at least regular Moab 3‘s on in person to get the perfect fit. We headed to Dick’s with a mission. We both started with Women’s 10W as that is our typical sneaker size. Both of us were surprised with how tight and narrow these boots felt. We bumped it up and tried on Women’s 11 on next and it still didn’t fit quite right. At this point, we usually have to give up and try Men’s boots on. While usually much better fitting, the color options are almost never as broad as the Women’s options. This is where the magic happens, we switched to Men’s sizes and a 9 regular fit perfectly. This is the first boot we have ever seen that had the same bright color as the Womens! Thank you, Merrell, for truly making these boots inclusive. As soon as we knew what size we wanted, we went home and ordered them.
On February 16th our boots arrived! We absolutely could not wait and the weather happen to be in our favor. For the last few days it had been warm enough to melt all the snow and ice away but still cold enough that mud season wasn’t quite here yet. So we laced up and took off down the nearest trail we could find.
We used All Trails to find Hudson Pointe Nature Preserve which is a short semi-loop trail that doesn’t have too much elevation gain. This was Lizz’s first-time hiking in years, so we decided to ease in. We went .40 miles down the trail and turned back to return to the trailhead just before it was too dark. All we wanted to do was get dirt on the soles and test out our brand-new hiking boots, and we did.
