What’s in our garden this year?

We just opened our package of seeds to prepare for our 2023 growing season. Everything has been ordered so far other than garlic which we plan to purchase from a local farmer’s market. We currently have strawberries that are taking over my raised garden bed from live plants I planted in 2021. Any suggestions on how to prevent squirrel thievery?

This year we ordered from Johnny’s and chose all organic seeds. Click on the name of each plant if your interested in seeing exactly what we ordered, not sponsored. We have never ordered seeds online before or used this particular brand, but so far the shipping was fast and the seed packets had useful information on them.

This year we each chose 4 or more plants to focus on growing and here’s what we each chose. Our love of the color purple is obvious in some of our choices.

Lizz:

Calendula

Chamomile

Acorn Squash

Basil

Strawberries

Holly:

Carrots

Cucumbers (pickling and slicing)

Paste Tomatoes

Dill

Romaine lettuce

Chinese Cabbage

Pete:

Bell Peppers

Jalapeño Peppers

Garlic

Onions

Hopefully we’ll have a successful year of learning and an abundant harvest. We hope to learn more through canning and creating herbal salves and oils and such. Join us on our journey and learn alongside us.
